What is Elongated / Split Ear Lobe?

An Elongated ear lobe usually occurs after the pierced hole widens over time from the weight of earrings.

What causes Elongated/split ear lobe?

Most commonly heavy or dangling earrings creates a slit in the ear lobe that begins at the point of piercing and continues to the base of the ear lobe. Sometimes accidental trauma entangling the earring in a comb when combing the hair is a very common can also cause a tear.

How is split ear lobe repaired?

Elongated ear lobe repair is a office surgery performed to restore the ear lobe. The wound edges are "freshened" and closure is performed with stitches or sometimes by glue for a smaller tear.
